Flextor has supplied diverter dampers for many complex industrial and co-generation applications.

Natural Gas Turbine applications
Flextor has extensive experience in the design and supply of pivot-type diverter dampers for natural gas turbine outlet applications. These systems, which have rapid gas streams reaching 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, present both thermal and mechanical challenges.

Flextor routinely combines a single unit, composed of turbine outlet expansion joint and diverter to simplify shipping and installation.

Fossil Fired Power and boiler applications
Applications ranging from primary air to boiler ducts, the precipitator and the stack require damper configurations which include gas diversion. Specifically designed for corrosive environments, the Flextor diverter series will exceed your requirements.

Smelting Applications
Flextor has successfully transferred the knowledge of the gas turbine industry to other industrial applications such as smelting where temperatures are not as high and gas streams are of lower velocity.

Our diverter damper designs are highlighted with robust and reliable components. Among the unique heavy-duty features you will receive are;

Drive options
Flextor has a wide range of drive options from simple shaft mounted pneumatic actuation, to heavy-duty electric and hydraulic actuation with fail safe configurations and back-up.
  • Electric drives for open/shut and modulation operation
  • Electric drives for modulation operation
  • Direct mounted electric drives for open/shut and modulation operation
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic drives

Seat configurations
Depending on the application, seat configuration can play a major role in the operation of any damper. Flextor offers a full range of proven seat configurations including;
  • Swing through
  • Metal to metal bar seat
  • Sloped bar seat
  • Blade lip leaf seal
  • High-Flex metal seat for tight shut-off - high temp
  • Composite seals for tight shut-off - low temp
  • Blow-off configuration for high dust loading

Stuffing box / bearing options
Bearings make the difference. Our dampers are designed with bearings that meet the challenges of the operation, yielding high levels of efficiency and reliability.
  • Machined coupling gland
  • Compression gland
  • Roller bearing - maintenance free
  • Sleeve bearing - maintenance free

Linkage designs
All Flextor linkages are selected for the application. Simple, to complex, linkages are available to meet the operating requirements of the damper.
  • Single pivot blade configuration
  • Double linkage for double row diverter dampers
  • Thermal compensating linkages for larger applications

Blade designs
Flextor dampers are available with simple blades, structural blades, thermally compensating blades, and profiled blades. For applications where heat retention is necessary, blades can be insulated.
